  1. Series ordered

    Warner Bros. Discovery announces a long-form television adaptation intended to revisit the seven novels.

  2. Creative leadership announced

    Francesca Gardiner becomes showrunner and executive producer; Mark Mylod is set to direct multiple episodes and executive-produce.

  3. Leavesden production plan confirmed

    The official site says production will begin in summer 2025 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and promises characters not seen in the films.

  4. First adult cast announced

    John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Luke Thallon and Paul Whitehouse join the ensemble.

  5. Main trio confirmed

    Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout are announced after tens of thousands of auditions.

  6. Principal production begins

    HBO formally starts production at Leavesden and releases the first image of McLaughlin in costume.
