Harry Potter Full-Cast Audiobook Cast

Cush Jumbo narrates, Hugh Laurie voices Dumbledore and Matthew Macfadyen voices Voldemort in the English full-cast recordings from Pottermore Publishing and Audible. All seven are out. This guide lists principal and featured voices and links the complete official credits.

Announced principal and featured voices

The table brings together the core cast and later featured announcements. “Series role” identifies the announced character; it does not claim that every character speaks in every book. The trio, Draco and Neville have explicit changes between books three and four. For every credited voice, including minor and unnamed parts, use the complete official audio credits.

How this differs from Stephen Fry and Jim Dale

These are three different listening approaches to the novels. Fry and Dale each provide a single-narrator reading, with one performer guiding narration and character voices. The full-cast production combines a narrator, individual character performances and production sound. It is not the soundtrack of the HBO series, and an actor’s audiobook role does not announce a television casting.

Choose according to the experience you want. One voice can provide continuity for a listener who likes a consistent guide. An ensemble can make a familiar story feel more theatrical. Neither description establishes a universal best edition. Our audio comparison gives the practical differences and a three-question picker, including the regional availability limit around individual Jim Dale UK product pages.

For a fair comparison, use the same headphones or speaker and a comfortable volume. Listen long enough to follow narration and changes of speaker, rather than judging a cover image or a few seconds of sound. The right starting point is the recording you want to continue hearing. There is no obligation to replace a version you already enjoy.

All seven English editions are out

Pottermore’s May 2026 announcement confirms that the final English full-cast recording has been released. The schedule below records the original English release dates, not the dates of another language edition or the publication of a novel.

Running times and a sensible listening plan

The running-time table in our audio guide compares the linked recordings at normal playback speed. Treat it as an indication of the scale of a book, not a deadline for finishing. Changing playback speed changes your listening time, and a total duration does not tell you whether you will enjoy a particular performance.

For travel, download through your own legitimate account before departure and check the device you intend to use. Find the pause, chapter navigation and playback controls before setting off. If you alternate print and audio, make a note of the chapter where you stop rather than assuming that different retailers or library systems synchronise progress.

Arabella Stanton: two separate productions

Arabella Stanton voices Hermione in audiobooks one to three and plays Hermione in the HBO television series. Those are separate productions with different casts and creative work. Nina Barker-Francis takes over the audiobook role from book four; that does not describe a change in the announced television role.

For the television ensemble, use the cast directory. The Voldemort casting guide separates confirmed information from an unannounced television role. Matthew Macfadyen’s voice role here should not be repeated as a television casting claim.

Is it right for you?

For families, agree who is hearing the story for the first time and let that person set the spoiler boundary. A returning reader may recognise a reveal long before a newcomer understands it. Leave room for questions and pauses instead of turning the recording into a race. Keep later-book explanations for when everybody has reached them.

For a listener sensitive to layered sound, try an authorised sample through the equipment you will actually use. Notice whether the combination of narration, voices and production sound feels comfortable. A description such as immersive is a statement about style, not a promise that every listener will prefer it. The single-narrator alternatives remain worth comparing.

For a rereader, decide whether you want familiarity or a new interpretation. You can enjoy a different performance without treating it as a replacement for the book or an earlier recording. Follow the seven-book reading order if you are starting the series, and avoid jumping to a later volume just because a particular performer interests you.
